There are many things you can do with StudioLine Photo Basic. It can help you organize your digital photos more efficiently, but it also lets you edit their metadata, make visual adjustments and more. The software is designed to be lightweight and easy to use, which makes it accessible even to beginners.

StudioLine Photo Basic is free for personal use. It works on Windows Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and it provides full support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems. The hardware requirements should not be a challenge even for modest machines and there is no need to install any kind of prerequisite tools.

As previously suggested, the software is quite easy to use. The largest part of its user interface is laid out like a standard explorer window, but you have to create your own folders and populate them with pictures. Once your photo folders are in order, you can use a wide range of tools, available all around the browsing area. Alternatively, you can go to a map view mode, in which you can geo-tag your pictures, by simply dragging and dropping them on a map.

The metadata for a selected image can be found in a column, on the right side of the window, where you can switch to editing options, on another tab. At first, you won't find too many editing options, but you can bring them up by selecting one of many image tools, through an icon on a toolbar.

The software places a wide range of editing tools at your disposal. With their aid, pictures can be cropped, their tones, colors, white balance and other characteristics adjusted, you can sharpen or blur them and much more. It is also possible to add and customize one or more special effects. When you choose one of these tools or effects, their corresponding adjustment options will show up in the aforementioned column, on the right side of the interface.

Besides sorting and editing pictures, StudioLine Photo Basic lets you share them as well. A particularly useful feature is the possibility of creating web galleries. If you select the images you wish to include and click a button, the program will place a series of gallery templates in front of you, after which it will present a series of fine tweaking options. Almost everything is done automatically for you, so advanced knowledge and skills are not required.

Pros

The program serves multiple purposes. You can organize photos, edit or share them and more. The controls are well organized and very easy to understand.

Cons

You may want to be careful if you decide to remove images from the program's database. Everything from sorting photos to sharing them with friends can be done faster and easier with StudioLine Photo Basic.
